Ngā Pou e Whā o te Kā

The Four Pillars of Ahikāroa

Our business is guided by four pou, strong foundations that hold and protect our kaupapa. Together, these pou ensure the fires of our tūpuna (ancestors) continue to burn.

These pou are are lived, practiced, and embodied in every wānanga, healing session, program, and relationship we hold.

Whakapapa

Identity

Whakapapa (lineage) is the foundation of all our work. It anchors us to our tūpuna, our values, and our responsibilities. This pou supports the reclamation and strengthening of our identity, sense of self, and inner communities.
It creates space for remembering, reconnecting, and standing confidently in who we are, regardless of where we live.

Hauora

Holistic Wellbeing

Through traditional Māori healing practices, we support the release and realignment of  the tinana (body), Hinengaro (mind) and Wairua (Spirit) restoring balance. Approaching wellbeing through an indigenous lense and frame works, Rongoā Māori. Alongside this work, we provide practical tools and guidance that support nervous system regulation and empower individuals to continue their own holistic

self-care practices.

Rangatiratanga

Leadership & Continuity

Rangatiratanga supports individuals working in leadership, caregiving, or facilitative roles, leading change, or navigating complex roles within their whānau and communities. Through coaching, mentorship, and guidance, we support sustainable leadership that empowers our community and the continuation of the kaupapa.

Whakapapa
Te Pūtake o Tā Mātou Mahi

Whakapapa is the pūtake,  the core foundation of our identity as individuals and as a business. It connects us to our tūpuna, our whenua, and the values that guide how we show up in the world.  Grounded in our connections to tūpuna, whakapapa provides clarity, direction, and strength as we navigate forward in an ever-changing world.

For individuals, whakapapa supports a deeper sense of identity, belonging, and confidence. It allows us to move forward without disconnecting from where we come from, strengthening our sense of self while adapting to new environments and roles. It offers a way to navigate life, leadership, and healing while remaining connected to identity and purpose. For our business, whakapapa ensures our mahi is tikanga-led, accountable, and guided by intergenerational knowledge.

We actively support the strengthening of whakapapa through:

  • Providing culturally grounded healing that supports reconnection to the tinana, hinengaro and wairua, recognising the body as a carrier of ancestral knowledge.

  • Creating spaces for learning, reflection, and shared kōrero that support understanding of tikanga, identity, and mātauranga Māori.

  • Maintaining strong relationships within our local communities to support referrals and partnerships that strengthen whakapapa journeys, reo Māori learning, and deeper engagement with te ao Māori.

  • Working alongside local business', organisations & practitioners to ensure individuals are supported within a wider network of cultural care and connection.

Hauora
Tinana me te Wairua – Mauri Ora

Our tinana, hinengaroa and wairua carry memory, experience, and the knowledge of our tūpuna. This pou is about restoring balance, creating safety within the individual, and allowing the tinana, hinengaro and wairua to reconnect. Healing is not only about releasing what is held but also equipping individuals with tools to continue their own self-care, regulation, and holistic wellbeing practices. Through Hauora, we support individuals to reconnect to their inner strength, embrace self-awareness, and nurture their ongoing journey of wellbeing.

How We Foster This Pou:

  • Kaimiri, Kairomi & Komiri Sessions: Culturally grounded healing practices that release tension, restore alignment, and support wellbeing.

  • Tools for Self-Care and Regulation: Guidance on practices that empower individuals to care for themselves, physically, spiritually and mentally.

  • Wānanga and Education: Teaching about traditional healing methods, understanding the body, and recognising ancestral memory.

  • We provide connections and avenues within the community to support the wellbeing of Mental Health through practitioners and organisations.

Whānau
Whānau me te Hapori – Hononga

This pou honours the principle that we are not meant to carry our journey alone. Whānau, collective learning, and community connection are essential to wellbeing and identity. By fostering strong relationships and providing spaces for learning and sharing, we support individuals and groups to reconnect, strengthen their cultural identity, and share knowledge across generations.

Through this pou, we build networks of support that encourage belonging, collaboration, and resilience.

How We Foster This Pou:

  • Wānanga and Cultural Programs: Offering learning spaces where tikanga, reo, and mātauranga Māori are shared.

  • Supporting Whānau through individual and whānau based programs - ensuring accessibility for all family members.

  • The use of adapted family-focused engagement models

  • Community Engagement: Maintaining strong relationships with local indigenous services and organisations to strengthen networks and connections.

  • Partnerships and Referrals: Linking individuals to wider services and practitioners to support their journey.

  • Collective Healing Practices: Providing group sessions that nurture belonging and shared responsibility.

Rangatiratanga

This pou supports individuals navigating leadership roles, caregiving, or complex responsibilities within whānau, community, or professional spaces. It empowers individuals to lead with integrity while maintaining balance, ensuring the ancestral fire is carried forward for future generations.

Through this pou, we equip people to step confidently into their roles while nurturing their own wellbeing and cultural connection.
