AHIKĀROA MĀORI WELLBEING COLLECTIVE

Our Community Hauora Spaces
Hauora Kaupapa
This kaupapa focuses on creating a community-centred hauora space grounded in the values of whānaungatanga, manaakitanga, and kōtahitanga. The intention is to provide a welcoming environment where whānau can come together to receive support, reconnect with themselves, and experience traditional Māori healing practices in an accessible way.
Our clinic operates as a koha-based service, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent people from accessing care. Sessions would be offered through Mirimiri and Romiromi, supporting the release of physical, emotional, and spiritual tension while restoring balance within the tinana, hinengaro, and wairua.
This space is not only about individual healing but also about rebuilding connection within community. Time is taken to connect with each person who arrives, allowing space for kōrero, whakawhanaungatanga, and grounding into the kaupapa of hauora from a Māori worldview.
Alongside treatments, rongoā Māori balms and remedies may be available for whānau to take home, offered at marked prices to support ongoing healing and self-care beyond the clinic space.
The Purpose of this Model is to:
-
Provide accessible holistic wellbeing support for the community
-
Create opportunities for connection and whakawhānaungatanga among whānau
-
Share and uphold mātauranga Māori healing practices in a respectful way
-
Allow people to experience traditional healing in a safe, supportive environment
This approach has proven to be a powerful way to bring community together, reduce barriers to care, and strengthen collective wellbeing.
